Austen and the Brontes definitely had very different writing sytles, but I've always loved Austen's wit and social commentary. What seems shallow at first came across as keen observations when I looked a bit closer. Glad you loved it too!Melissa (Avid Reader)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02119628715475021774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7478500839371377052.post-1443078080560234032010-10-25T14:38:19.677-04:002010-10-25T14:38:19.677-04:00P&P is my favorite book of all time and I'...P&P is my favorite book of all time and I'm a total Austen devotee, so I have to express my shock that you didn't rave over the book like I always do :) You should defintely see 1995's P&P as it really illuminated the book for me. The Brontes never were my cup of tea, so I can see why they don't like my beloved Jane :)Lisa Galekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02438927319122874125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7478500839371377052.post-12849203409784446782010-10-25T10:46:58.140-04:002010-10-25T10:46:58.140-04:00I had never read Austen before until about a year ...I had never read Austen before until about a year ago...I agree - she is witty, fluffy, and fun... I have enjoyed every book of hers thus far...I am also a Dickens fan, LOVED Nicholas Nickleby! :)Uneekdolldesignshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15530438413670274155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7478500839371377052.post-36412377425687223882010-10-24T21:09:24.878-04:002010-10-24T21:09:24.878-04:00What a wonderful review!
I will probably read ...What a wonderful review!

I will probably read one Austen a year. As much as I do like the two books I have read, I can't read all of them at once.

I like any movie with Colin Firth so the 1995 version is my favorite.BookQuoterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13033467542826463255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7478500839371377052.post-35032410776712870692010-10-24T20:07:09.902-04:002010-10-24T20:07:09.902-04:00Hmm... you are making me think I should read more...Hmm... you are making me think I should read more "classics", which I somehow nearly always avoid. To commiserate with your *gasp*, I started Wuthering Heights today... I have never read it before. Oh, and I heart Colin Firth.Sarah Reads Too Muchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06130692983823811455noreply@blogger.com
