Beginnings

Welcome friends! I have started this entry in the global technosphere because I have been in love with books since the age of 2. Among the busy business of being a new teacher, this is my outlet for sharing thoughts on a love of reading a wide variety of books. My inspiration can be summed up with a yearbook quote from a teacher written when I was 8: "To the only girl at recess I see reading a book. Good for you!"
My blog title is quoted from a classmate who asked me this once. Believe it or not, I've also heard it as a teacher :D

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

A weekly meme hosted by Sheila @ Book Journey.

Happy 1st Anniversary, Monday Meme!
Thanks Sheila for all your hard work in hosting this meme :)

A bit slow this week as I've been reorganizing my TBR list & added lots of titles (isn't that always the way? LOL) but I finished off one book started last week and am about halfway through my latest one.

In answer to Sheila's anniversary edition questions, I've been blogging since August & my first Monday meme post was on August 30th.  I was celebrating having 5 followers & now have 106.  Wow, that really is something :D  As for blogs I've found through the Monday meme, there are way too many to count.  I haven't kept track of how I came across the blogs I follow but I'm sure out of the 102 blogs I currently follow, there are probably several that I found through this meme.

Books Read This Week (1)
Wonder Boys- Michael Chabon

Currently Reading (2)
Rabbit, Run- John Updike--It was off to a bit of a slow start but after looking up some information on the series, I see that the plot tends to waver.  It starts to pick after the first 50 pages.

My Life- Bill Clinton--I haven't read from this in a couple of weeks but continue to on occasion.

Next to Read
The Kite Runner- Khaled Hosseini--for Back to the Classics challenge--possible 21st century classic

Middlesex- Jeffrey Eugenides--for Back to the Classics challenge--Pulitzer Prize winner/nominee

I'm going to hold off on The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to get going on the Back to the Classics challenge.

Other Reviews Written This Week (1)
A Prayer For Owen Meany- John Irving

Bloggy Things
~ Forgot to write summaries in reviews for Owen Meany and Wonder Boys before posting.  Added those back in.

~ January Wrap-Up & Year-to-Date post

~ Celebrated my 100th follower milestone (thanks again!)

~ Purchased some challenge books & swapped Bourne Identity for Harry Potter in 1st in a Series challenge.  I'm also hoping to re-read the HP series this year if I find time :)

Have an awesome reading week :)

  7. Thanks for your comment on my post, I'm really looking forward to reading Citizens of Nowhere. Last year my husband (who is also a teacher in Ontario!) had a student in his class who was a very new refugee from Afghanistan. It was quite a journey and challenge.
