Beginnings

Welcome friends! I have started this entry in the global technosphere because I have been in love with books since the age of 2. Among the busy business of being a new teacher, this is my outlet for sharing thoughts on a love of reading a wide variety of books. My inspiration can be summed up with a yearbook quote from a teacher written when I was 8: "To the only girl at recess I see reading a book. Good for you!"
My blog title is quoted from a classmate who asked me this once. Believe it or not, I've also heard it as a teacher :D

Friday Blog Hop!

A weekly meme hosted by Jennifer @ Crazy For Books.
For this week only, the hop is being hosted by Lori @ Lori's Reading Corner.

This week's question is:

Who is the one author that you are dying to meet?

Just one?!? :(   This ought to be a Top 10 Tuesday topic (or maybe it already has been one?).  If I had to choose just one, I would love to meet Stephen King, probably because I've read so many of his books and he seems very down-to-earth from the forwards he writes in some editions of his books.  It would be great to talk shop with him :)

This is too fun a topic to just stop here...so here's a top 10 list:

1)  Stephen King
2)  Audrey Niffenegger
3)  J.K. Rowling
4)  Margaret Atwood
5)  John Irving
6)  Anna Quindlen
7)  Jane Hamilton
8)  Barbara Kingsolver
9)  Khaled Hosseini
10)  Mark Haddon

Have a great weekend :)

  1. Oooh, you've got some great choices! I'd have to agree with you on all of those - with the exception of Stephen King. I've never read his books b/c I don't like scary novels :)

  3. I would love to meet Stephen King. Have you read his book "On Writing" I think it's called. I kind of felt like I met him after reading that book.

Rowling would definitely be on my list too!

    Happy Reading!

  6. My son and I would probably knock each other down to get to Stephen King. I'd love to meet Anne Tyler, but I'd probably babble or get tongue-tied and just stare adoringly.

  7. If I made a list, it would look very similar to yours! King and Atwood are tops though.

  8. I would also love to meet Stephen King -- and maybe his son, Joe Hill, too. :)

I didn't actually meet Audrey Niffenegger, but I heard her speak at a librarian's event -- very, very cool.

    Happy Hopping!

  9. I had to put 2, I couldn't decide, but could have easily put down 10. Margaret Atwood would be awesome!

  10. Wow! Every answer I’ve read is a great one. Some have been surprising, too.

The one author I have to meet before I die? Tricky question! It took me a long time – much longer than usual – to come up with an answer.

Who’s that author I’m dying to meet?

Hop this way to find out my roguish answer – http://www.howardsherman.net

  11. I love your author selection. No need to stop at just one, right? I've read and enjoyed many of the books in your review page too. Now following you.

  12. Hi! New follower via the Hop. I second a lot of those choices: King, Rowling, Atwood (I bet she'd be fascinating) and Hosseini and Haddon and...It was awfully hard to pick just one, wasn't it?

  13. I really want Stephen King and Barabra Kingsolver as neighbors.

  14. It would be good to meet Stephen King, he comes across as just like a normal guy. Audrey Niffenegger might be a bit weird though!

  15. Great list! I've never met one author so I would be satisfied with one. I like many of the authors on your list though.

  16. Awesome list! I have to say that while I think it'd be super cool to meet an author, I'm too worried that I wouldn't be able to think of anything to ask them or talk about.
