Beginnings

Welcome friends! I have started this entry in the global technosphere because I have been in love with books since the age of 2. Among the busy business of being a new teacher, this is my outlet for sharing thoughts on a love of reading a wide variety of books. My inspiration can be summed up with a yearbook quote from a teacher written when I was 8: "To the only girl at recess I see reading a book. Good for you!"
My blog title is quoted from a classmate who asked me this once. Believe it or not, I've also heard it as a teacher :D

Book Blog Hop!

Oh boy, I'm loving these memes!  Book Blog Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy For Books.

This week's question is from Sarah @ SarahReadsTooMuch:

Do you judge a book by its cover?

This is too ironic since Jillian at Random Ramblings asked for a top 10 of fave book covers yesterday!  I guess the short answer is yes.  The long answer is I do for simple interest's sake (*should I stay or should I go now*) and I don't if I'm familiar with the title or author, because my interest is already piqued :o)  Basically, I don't judge the content of the book by its cover, because to me, that reduces the entire text to a single image or idea (not fair, I say!) but a cover does entice me to pick it up or leave it.

Hoping to touch base with others!  What do you think about this week's question?

  1. I'm guilty! I always judge a book by its cover and the really stupid part is I keep doing it even though I've enjoyed great books with awful covers (recommended by a friend, since I didn't pick it up) and I've stopped reading less-than-wonderful books with enticing covers. I never learn.

I'm enjoying your blog, by the way. Keep writing!

  2. Jan~ Thanks for your comments! True, I think covers can be deceiving. Hmm...I'm trying to think of a book with a bad cover that was actually good...Will need to ponder that & get back to you.
