Beginnings

Welcome friends! I have started this entry in the global technosphere because I have been in love with books since the age of 2. Among the busy business of being a new teacher, this is my outlet for sharing thoughts on a love of reading a wide variety of books. My inspiration can be summed up with a yearbook quote from a teacher written when I was 8: "To the only girl at recess I see reading a book. Good for you!"
My blog title is quoted from a classmate who asked me this once. Believe it or not, I've also heard it as a teacher :D

A Couple of Reading Things

Every once in a while, I'll post some funny random things or reading-related finds, like a great quotation, a thought-provoking picture, or some other tidbit I wanted to share with you.  Here's what I've found for today:

Beautiful, isn't it?

ATTENTION TEACHERS & PARENTS!  FUN SITE AHEAD!

While hopping to new blogs today, I found this wonderful site, Storyline Online, that offers free read-alouds of children's books by actors and comes with many resources & activities.  The interactive read-alouds show video footage of the actor reading, animated illustrations pulled from the book, background music, and sound effects.  I listened to the fabulous Betty White read Harry the Dirty Dog, which ended with her advocating for animal adoption awareness with the sweetest little puppy...*awww*.

  1. I just bookmarked that site. My daughter is a reader now, but every once in awhile it's nice to hear a book too.
