Beginnings

Welcome friends! I have started this entry in the global technosphere because I have been in love with books since the age of 2. Among the busy business of being a new teacher, this is my outlet for sharing thoughts on a love of reading a wide variety of books. My inspiration can be summed up with a yearbook quote from a teacher written when I was 8: "To the only girl at recess I see reading a book. Good for you!"
My blog title is quoted from a classmate who asked me this once. Believe it or not, I've also heard it as a teacher :D

  2. I'm hoping to reread The Handmaid's Tale soon. I enjoyed it in high school but I imagine I can appreciate it a lot more now (hope I don't read it and not like it this time!)

  8. Wow, we have really similar tastes. The Poisonwood Bible & Handmaid's Tale are in my top ten books of all time.

Are you enjoying Bill Clinton's book? For me it took a while to get through but was really enjoyable. I've read a few other political memoirs since and none have been as good.

And I haven't read Dragon Tattoo either. After you read it, I'll definitely be the last person on earth who hasn't! :P

  9. Wow, what an amazing line-up of books you're reading!! I have always wanted to read The Handmaid's Tale - I've never read any Atwood at all - I really need to get to it soon.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was amazing, as were the next two books in the series. After you've read it, check out the Swedish movie based on the book - it's excellent.

And The Poisonwood Bible is one of my top 5, all-time favorite books ever!

I'd like to read Clinton and Obama's memoirs, also.

    Enjoy your books this week!

No, you aren't the only one who hasn't read Girl With a Dragon Tattoo....I picked it up at a book sale a few months ago, and haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I've heard nothing but good things about it though!

You have so many great books to read right now! :) Have a great week! Happy Reading!

  11. I read The Poisonwood Bible a while back and frankly didn't think much of it, but I've been listening to the audiobook and it's quite good.

I may have mentioned this already, but I must re-read The Handmaid's Tale. I loved that book and I hope you will too.

    Enjoy your week.
